In a thrilling T20 World Cup match at Arnos Vale Ground, Australia faced Afghanistan. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first. Afghanistan’s openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, took their time but eventually forged a 118-run stand, marking their third hundred-run partnership of the tournament.

However, Australia’s Marcus Stoinis broke the partnership, and Adam Zampa took two crucial wickets in the 17th over. Pat Cummins made history by becoming the first bowler to take back-to-back hat-tricks in T20Is, claiming the wickets of Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, and Gulbadin Naib. This remarkable feat had only been achieved by four other players before him.

Despite the strong start, Afghanistan’s innings crumbled, and they were restricted to 148/6. Zampa’s consistent performance saw him taking at least one wicket in 16 consecutive T20 World Cup innings, tying with South Africa’s Anrich Nortje.

Australia’s spirited performance turned the game in their favor, showcasing their resilience and skill in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
