Pashtun Tahafuz Movement and Afghan Cultural Association Protest at UN in Vienna

In Vienna, Austria, the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and the Afghan Cultural Association (AKIS) organized a demonstration outside the United Nations Headquarters. The protest aimed to condemn the actions of the Pakistani establishment and advocate for the rights of Pashtuns and other oppressed communities in Pakistan.

Demonstrators carried banners and placards criticizing the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Pakistani military, accusing them of supporting terrorist groups. Pashtun leaders at the protest emphasized that the PTM and the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demand the Pakistani army end its occupation of tribal areas.

Participants called on the international community, including the United Nations and the European Union, to address the injustices faced by Pashtuns and other minorities. The PTM is a grassroots organization focused on advocating for Pashtun rights, particularly in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and tribal areas, addressing issues like enforced disappearances and military operations.

The protest highlighted the growing discontent within the Afghan and Pashtun diaspora about their treatment in Pakistan. As the event concluded, protesters submitted a memorandum to the UN, detailing atrocities against Pashtuns and requesting urgent international intervention. They stressed that accountability for human rights violations is crucial for peace and freedom in the region.
