Parvez Elahi Reaffirms Support for Imran Khan After Release from Jail
Lahore, Pakistan, June 25: Parvez Elahi, President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has reaffirmed his steadfast support for party founder Imran Khan. Addressing rumors of a deal, Elahi clarified that he remains firmly aligned with Imran Khan and debunked claims of negotiations with authorities.
Elahi, the former Punjab chief minister, attributed the spread of these rumors to certain relatives, including Mohsin Naqvi. He emphasized his commitment to PTI, highlighting his personal sacrifices, including periods of incarceration. Elahi warned those attempting to create discord within PTI, asserting their efforts would fail and predicted the party’s return to power.
Elahi called for accountability from those responsible for electoral malpractice, demanding public apologies for undermining the democratic process. This statement follows his recent release from Kot Lakhpat Jail, where he had been detained for several months. The Lahore High Court granted him bail in a case related to alleged illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.
Expressing gratitude upon his release, Elahi thanked his supporters for their loyalty and credited his resilience to divine strength. He acknowledged the judiciary for upholding justice in his case. Elahi’s legal troubles involved accusations of facilitating illegal appointments within the Punjab Assembly, including 12 unauthorized placements of Grade 17 officers. Despite legal challenges, Elahi remained resolute throughout the proceedings.
As he returned home, Elahi expressed optimism for PTI’s future and reiterated his support for Imran Khan’s leadership.
