Parul Chaudhary Misses Medal Race at Paris Olympics
Indian athlete Parul Chaudhary finished eighth in the women’s 3000m steeplechase event at the Paris Olympics, missing out on the medal race. She clocked 9:23.39 in the qualification round at the Stade de France. Only the top five athletes progressed to the medal event.
Earlier, Parul also missed the final round of the women’s 5000m competition, finishing 14th with a time of 15:10.68, close to her national record of 15:10.35. Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet led heat two with a timing of 15:00.73.
India Wins Three Bronze Medals in Shooting
The Indian contingent has won three bronze medals in shooting at the Paris Olympics. Swapnil Kusale won bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3P event, becoming the first Indian shooter to win a medal in this category. He finished third with an aggregate of 451.4.
Manu Bhaker secured two bronze medals: one in the women’s individual 10m air pistol event and another in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with partner Sarabjot Singh. They defeated South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 in the bronze medal play-off match.
