Parth Rakesh Mane Shines at Lima Junior Worlds with Double Gold in 10m Air Rifle
New Delhi, India – Parth Rakesh Mane was crowned junior world champion in the 10m air rifle at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru. Parth, 16, led India to a dominant performance, winning double gold by also securing the team competition with Ajay Malik and Abhinav Shaw.
India’s Medal Surge
India’s third gold of the day came from the junior women’s 10m air rifle team, with Gautami Bhanot, Sambhavi Kshirsagar, and Anoushka Thakur clinching the top spot. Parth’s standout performance saw him shoot 250.7 in the 24-shot final, narrowly beating China’s Huang Liwanlin by 0.7 points. Braden Peiser of the USA took bronze.
Other Notable Performances
Paris Olympic silver medallist Victor Lindgren of Sweden finished fourth, while reigning double junior world champion Romain Aufrere was sixth. Ajay Malik and Abhinav Shaw finished fifth and seventh, respectively. In the qualification round, Ajay came second, Parth fourth, and Abhinav sixth.
Team Success
The trio of Parth, Ajay, and Abhinav tallied a total of 1883.5 to win the team gold, surpassing the USA and Germany. In the junior women’s air rifle final, Gautami Bhanot finished fourth, Shambhavi Kshirsagar fifth, and Ojasvi Thakur seventh. The team of Gautami, Shambhavi, and Anoushka set a junior world team record score of 1894.8 to win gold.
Skeet Competitions
In the junior men’s and women’s skeet competitions, Indian shooters did not fare as well. Gurfateh Singh Sandhu and Bhavtegh Singh Gill both scored 112, finishing 29th and 31st, respectively. Mansi Raghuwanshi was the best-placed Indian in the junior women’s skeet, finishing 8th with a score of 109.
India continues to lead the medal tally with five golds.
