The decision comes amid rising political tensions as the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach. The Baramati constituency is set for a family face-off between Ajit Pawar and his nephew Yugendra Pawar. Previously, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Sunetra Pawar contested against Supriya Sule, who won by 1.5 lakh votes.
Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are gearing up for the elections. The Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. The elections will occur on November 20, with results announced on November 23.
