A meeting of the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, chaired by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, is scheduled in the Parliament Annexe building. The committee will hear from various groups, including Jamaat-e-Islam-e-Hind, Delhi, and the Muslim Women Intellectual Group led by Shalini Ali, marking the first time a women’s group has been invited. Other groups like Jamiyat Himaytul Islam, led by Qari Abrar Jamal, and Shia Muslim Dharmguru and Intellectual group led by Maulana Kokab Mujtaba, will also present their views.

On November 5, the committee will continue to gather input from Akhil Bhartiya Adhivakta Parishad led by Shreehari Borikar, Anveshak led by Gaurav Agarwal, and others. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, aims to reform the Waqf Act, 1995, addressing issues like mismanagement and corruption by introducing digitization, stricter audits, and legal mechanisms to reclaim properties.

The Joint Committee of Parliament is conducting these meetings to ensure comprehensive reforms by consulting government officials, legal experts, and community representatives from across India.
