Paras Mhambrey Returns to Mumbai Indians as Bowling Coach

Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, have announced the return of former Indian cricketer Paras Mhambrey as their bowling coach for the upcoming season. Paras will work alongside the current bowling coach, Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga, under the leadership of head coach Mahela Jayawardene.

Paras Mhambrey’s Previous Achievements

Paras Mhambrey was previously part of the MI coaching team, contributing to their IPL 2013 victory, two Champions League T20 titles in 2011 and 2013, a runner-up finish in 2010, and two playoff appearances. His recent role was as the bowling coach for the Indian men’s cricket team, which won the T20 World Cup earlier this year. He was appointed to this position in 2021.

Paras Mhambrey’s Cricket Career

Between 1996 and 1998, Paras played two Test matches and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India, taking a total of five wickets. As a medium-pacer, he played for Mumbai from 1992 to 2003, securing 284 wickets in 91 first-class matches and 111 wickets in 83 List A games.

Coaching Changes at Mumbai Indians

MI also announced the appointment of Mahela Jayawardene as head coach for the next season, a role he held from 2017 to 2022. He replaces Mark Boucher, who coached the team for two seasons. Last season, MI finished at the bottom of the table with four wins and ten losses under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya.
