Independent Member of Lok Sabha from Bihar, Pappu Yadav.

New Delhi, India, July 23: Pappu Yadav, an Independent Member of Lok Sabha from Purnea, Bihar, has voiced his concerns over the Union Budget 2024. He questioned the promises of job creation and the handling of migration issues from Bihar. Yadav remarked, “They claim to create 4 crore jobs, but how many have been provided in the last 10 years? What about the migration from Bihar?”

Yadav also criticized the lack of a special package for Bihar, despite its significant political influence. He said, “Now you are saying don’t give us special state status but a package; why are you begging? You have 30 MPs’ support.” He highlighted the economic challenges faced by Bihar, noting the high expenses incurred by residents for education outside the state.

Earlier today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several initiatives to boost infrastructure and economic opportunities in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. These include the development of an industrial node at Gaya, key road projects like the Patna-Purnia Expressway, and a new 2400 MW power plant at Pirpainti. Additionally, new airports, medical colleges, and sports infrastructure are planned for Bihar, along with Rs 11,500 crore for flood control measures.

For Andhra Pradesh, Sitharaman announced special financial support to address the state’s capital needs, with an allocation of Rs 15,000 crore for the current fiscal year. These announcements are part of the first Union Budget of the Modi 3.0 government and Sitharaman’s seventh consecutive budget presentation. The budget session of Parliament runs from July 22 to August 12.
