Pakistan’s power regulatory authority, NEPRA, has fined K-Electric PKR10 million due to electrocution incidents in Karachi from 2022 to 2023, resulting in 33 deaths. K-Electric’s response to the show-cause notice was rejected, and they must pay the fine within 15 days. Additionally, K-Electric is required to compensate the affected families with PKR3.5 million each and hire one of the victims’ heirs, Muhammad Aslam. K-Electric maintains it was not negligent in the cases.
