Pakistan’s Information Minister Attatullah Tarar Criticizes Imran Khan for Seeking Military Talks

On Tuesday, Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attatullah Tarar, spoke outside Pakistan’s Parliament House, criticizing former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Tarar accused Khan of dragging the army into his political agenda and taking a U-turn by seeking negotiations with the military.

Tarar claimed that Khan initially refused to back down, launched attacks on military installations, and desecrated memorials of martyrs. He labeled Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as a terrorist group responsible for creating chaos in the country. Tarar also accused Khan of compromising national security through social media trends and mentioned that Khan’s relatives were present during the May 9 riots.

According to Tarar, Khan’s actions have hindered Pakistan’s development, but the country’s stock exchange has improved since Khan’s incarceration. Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned for nearly a year, stated on Tuesday that his party is ready to hold talks with the military and urged the army to nominate a representative for negotiations. He denied allegations against the army and called for penalties for any PTI workers found guilty in the May 9 riots.
