Pakistani Women Workers Forum Calls for Government Support
In Lahore, Pakistan, the Women Workers Forum (WWF) has urged the government to protect the livelihoods of gig and platform workers, especially women, who face challenges from climate change and unreliable internet access. Dur-e-Shawar from the WWF emphasized that income loss due to work disruptions increases the risk of domestic violence and poverty for women. Ayesha, a gig worker, shared her struggles with inconsistent pay and mental stress due to job insecurity.

The WWF and platform workers are calling for fair contracts, timely payments, and legal recognition under labor laws. They seek rights such as minimum wage, social security, and the ability to form unions.
