Pakistan vs England Test Series: Karachi Match Moved to Multan Due to Renovations

The second Test match between Pakistan and England has been moved from Karachi to Multan due to ongoing renovation work at the National Bank Stadium for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the revised schedule for the three-match Test series on Friday.

Revised Schedule

The second Test, originally planned for October 15-19 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, will now take place at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The first Test will begin on October 7 in Multan, and the third Test will be held from October 24-28 in Rawalpindi.

PCB Statement

According to the PCB, “The match has been shifted from Karachi to Multan as the National Bank Stadium is undergoing a major facelift for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will also be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi’s Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.”

Team Arrivals

Both the England and Pakistan teams will arrive in Multan on October 2.

Previous Venue Changes

This is not the first time a Test match has been moved from Karachi. During Pakistan’s Test series against Bangladesh, the second match was also shifted to Rawalpindi due to construction work.

Pakistan’s Recent Performance

In their recent home Test series against Bangladesh, Pakistan, led by Shan Masood, suffered a 2-0 series defeat. This marked Pakistan’s first Test series loss to Bangladesh and dropped them to their lowest ICC Test ranking since 1965. Masood has yet to win a Test match as captain, having also lost a 3-0 away series to Australia. He aims to secure his first victory as Test captain in the upcoming series against England.
