Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Calls for Stability Amid Political Turmoil
Amid ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan and the opposition’s calls for re-elections, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to expose elements causing instability in the country. During a meeting with Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Sharif urged the government and the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) to counter the campaign against national security institutions.
Sharif praised the PML-N’s contributions to the Senate and congratulated Siddiqui on his election as Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs. He stated that the Upper House should guide other elected chambers in promoting democratic norms and a civilised environment.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader Javed Latif criticized the current administration, claiming it was the result of an ‘arrangement.’ He emphasized the need to prioritize state interests over party connections and demanded a comparison of the achievements of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and PTI founder Imran Khan.
