Pakistan Police Raid PTI Leader Omar Ayub Khan’s House Amid Arrest Warrants

On Sunday, Pakistan police raided the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan in Islamabad. The raid followed non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Sargodha anti-terrorism court. Omar Ayub claims that both federal and provincial governments are attempting to arrest him.

Despite Ayub’s resignation in June to focus on his role as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, PTI rejected his resignation. The party’s core committee and parliamentary party unanimously supported Ayub, asking him to continue as Secretary-General. PTI founder Imran Khan also appreciated Ayub’s services.

Reports indicate internal rifts within PTI, with 27 Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) lawmakers considering resigning from the National Assembly. Of these, 21 lawmakers are reportedly forming a forward bloc due to the leadership’s failure to secure Imran Khan’s release from prison.
