Pakistan International Airlines Investigates Harassment Complaints in Dubai

Karachi [Pakistan], September 13: An official of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Dubai is under investigation following multiple harassment complaints. The Sales Regional Manager has been removed from his position after several complaints, including one from a female employee who presented evidence of harassment.

A formal application against the sales manager has been filed with the Federal Ombudsman for harassment, which is currently under review. A PIA spokesperson stated that the airline has a zero-tolerance policy towards workplace harassment and is committed to taking appropriate administrative action if the allegations are substantiated. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, on August 4, PIA took action against the Deputy Station Manager in Birmingham, Javed Iqbal Bajwa, after an investigation revealed discrepancies in his educational qualifications. Bajwa was found to have submitted a fake intermediate certificate, leading to a show-cause notice being issued to him.

Meanwhile, PIA is nearing privatization. The National Assembly’s standing committee on aviation informed on July 6 that the process is almost complete. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) currently operates 22 out of 43 airports, including 13 international ones, and has been experiencing budget constraints, using second-generation equipment while developed countries use third-generation equipment.
