Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi summoned white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten to discuss the team’s future. This meeting comes after criticism from fans and former cricketers regarding Pakistan’s performance in the T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage.

Last week, Gary Kirsten and selector Wahab Riaz submitted their tour reports to Naqvi. The report covered players’ discipline, game awareness, fitness, and other aspects. Naqvi is reviewing these reports to make informed decisions.

A significant part of the discussion was the future of Babar Azam as the white-ball captain. Former cricketers have criticized Babar’s leadership, but Naqvi stated that no decision has been made yet. He emphasized that he is consulting with former cricketers interested in improving Pakistan cricket.

Additionally, around 30-35 international cricketers are expected to meet Naqvi to provide feedback and suggestions for enhancing the domestic cricket structure.

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign started with a Super Over defeat against the USA, followed by a loss to India. They won their remaining matches against Canada and Ireland but failed to advance to the Super 8 stage. Pakistan’s next white-ball series is against Australia in November, giving the management time to make necessary changes.
