Pakistan Claims to Catch Female Suicide Bomber in Balochistan, Activists Question Truth

Pakistan has claimed to catch a female suicide bomber in Balochistan, but activists and journalists are questioning the truthfulness of these claims. At a recent press conference in Quetta, government representatives presented a woman named Adeela, alleging she was caught before carrying out an attack.

The event was led by government spokesperson Shahid Rind and Member of Balochistan Assembly Farah Azeem Shah. However, activists argue that the woman was falsely portrayed. Kiyya Baloch, the Communication Officer of the Norway chapter of Pen International, stated that the woman was actually married against her parents’ wishes and had no intentions of returning home.

Journalists within Balochistan have also raised concerns over the selective and non-transparent nature of the press conference, claiming that only a few reporters were invited. This is not the first time such accusations have been made by the Balochistan government. In previous incidents, women from Kech and Quetta were similarly detained and presented as potential attackers, only to be released after public outcry and lack of evidence.
