Pakistan Airports Authority Holds First Meeting and Issues Safety Advisory

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) held its inaugural Board of Directors meeting, chaired by the Secretary of Aviation. During the meeting, the Board approved the service regulation structure for the newly established authority, marking a significant step in its operational framework. However, the decision on the pension issues of retired employees was deferred and will be revisited in future meetings.

Earlier in the day, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued a cautionary directive to pilots of all airlines. The advisory urged pilots to exercise extreme care during landing and take-off at Islamabad International Airport due to concerns about runway slipperiness caused by stormy monsoon rains. Runway No. 18L at Islamabad Airport is particularly wet, raising fears of planes potentially slipping during flight operations. The CAA emphasized the importance of caution, especially during this season’s unpredictable weather. Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds has affected Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and other parts of Punjab.
