World Yoga Day Celebrations in Telangana
Specially Abled People Join in Large Numbers
On June 21, more than 1,200 specially abled individuals from around 30 non-government organizations in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and other parts of Telangana gathered to perform yoga asanas. The event was part of the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations.
Event Arrangements
The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) made special arrangements for the participants and their escorts. Yoga mats and T-shirts were provided to all attendees to ensure a comfortable experience.
National Celebrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national celebrations at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. He emphasized the importance of yoga for physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
Other Celebrations Across India
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) held events at multiple locations, including the Supreme Court of India and its Goa campus. Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, highlighted yoga’s role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and spiritual enlightenment.
In Karnataka, the Isha Foundation’s Sadhguru Sannidhi organized a large event with around 1,000 NCC cadets, 200 soldiers, and other participants. Air Commodore SB Arunkumar and Kannada actor Srinidhi Shetty were special guests.
In Jaisalmer, Border Security Force (BSF) jawans performed yoga on the Sam Sand Dunes, while Indian Army personnel practiced yoga in Eastern Ladakh and other high-altitude areas.
Prime Minister’s Message
Prime Minister Modi urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily lives, highlighting its benefits for strength, health, and wellness. This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ underscores yoga’s role in fostering individual well-being and societal harmony.
