East Bengal FC has announced the appointment of Oscar Bruzon as their new head coach, following the departure of Carles Cuadrat. Bruzon, who previously served as an assistant manager at Mumbai City FC, returns to the Indian Super League (ISL) after nine years. His last coaching role was with Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings, where he achieved significant success.
Bruzon’s appointment comes as East Bengal struggles at the bottom of the ISL table, having yet to secure any points this season. Under interim head coach Bin George, the team recently suffered a 2-0 defeat against Jamshedpur FC.
During his tenure with Bashundhara Kings, Bruzon won 94 out of 114 matches, boasting a points-per-match ratio of 2.59. He led the team to three Federation Cups, five League titles, and three Independence Cups, and also achieved success in AFC competitions.
East Bengal’s recent performances have been disappointing, with the team failing to win any of their first four matches of the 2024-2025 ISL season. The club will face their rivals Mohun Bagan SG in their upcoming match at Salt Lake Stadium.
