OR Kelu Becomes New Minister in Kerala Government

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], June 23: OR Kelu was sworn in as a minister in the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala. The ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan on Sunday, with Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administering the oath of office and secrecy to Kelu. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other political leaders, including those from the opposition, attended the event.

Kelu, an MLA from Mananthavady in Wayanad district, was inducted into the cabinet after K Radhakrishnan resigned as minister upon winning the recent Lok Sabha election. Kelu will handle the SC and ST welfare portfolio, although some criticized the decision not to give him the Devaswom portfolio.

After taking the oath, Kelu expressed his pleasure at the opposition’s attendance and outlined his priorities, including finding a permanent solution to wild animal attacks in Wayanad and securing more MBBS seats for Wayanad Medical College.
