Opposition MPs Walk Out of Rajya Sabha During PM Modi’s Speech

Today in New Delhi, opposition MPs from the INDIA bloc walked out of the Rajya Sabha while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was replying to the debate on the ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President’s address. The MPs protested that the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, was not allowed to speak.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar criticized the opposition MPs, saying they ‘challenged the Constitution’ and ‘insulted’ their oath of office by walking out. He emphasized that Kharge was given adequate time to speak without interruptions.

Prime Minister Modi also condemned the walkout, stating that the opposition MPs do not have the strength to hear the truth and are insulting the traditions of the Upper House.

Earlier in the day, the Rajya Sabha condoled the loss of lives in a stampede incident at a ‘Satsang’ in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh. LoP Kharge called for legislation to prevent such incidents in the future.
