Opposition Leaders Meet at Mallikarjun Kharge’s House to Discuss Lok Sabha Speaker Election

New Delhi, June 25: Leaders from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) are gathering at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha Speaker election. The meeting is set for 8 pm.

The opposition has nominated K Suresh, an 8-time MP, as their candidate for the Speaker position. The BJP has nominated Om Birla, who served as the Speaker in the 17th Lok Sabha.

Rahul Gandhi stated that the opposition is willing to support the NDA’s Speaker candidate if the Deputy Speaker position is given to the opposition. He also criticized the treatment of opposition leaders, alleging disrespect.

Congress MP KC Venugopal echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the opposition’s readiness to support the NDA’s candidate if the Deputy Speaker post is honored. He highlighted the tradition of the Deputy Speaker being from the opposition.
