Omar Ayub Khan Evades Arrest in Islamabad Raid
Omar Ayub Khan, the Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, managed to evade arrest during a raid at his residence in Sector F-10, Islamabad. The raid was conducted by a joint team of Islamabad and Mianwali police after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Sargodha issued bailable warrants for his arrest.
The Mianwali police stated that their assistant sub-inspector (ASI) had only gone to serve the warrants, not to arrest Ayub. However, Ayub went into hiding after the raid and criticized the authorities for their desperation to apprehend him. He expressed his determination to continue the struggle until PTI leader Imran Khan becomes the Prime Minister again.
PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan confirmed that the raid was conducted by both uniformed and plainclothes police officers. He mentioned that Ayub was not at home during the raid and was in a safe place. Hasan also noted that the police did not seek prior permission from the National Assembly speaker to conduct the raid.
