The National Conference-Congress alliance is set for a clear majority in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, criticized exit polls, calling them a “waste of time” and suggesting those who believe in them deserve to be in memes. He expressed this view on X, as the alliance crossed the halfway mark.

According to the latest Election Commission data, the National Conference has won 39 seats and is leading in 3, while Congress has secured 6 seats. The BJP has won 27 seats and is leading in 2. Mehbooba Mufti’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won three seats, and independents and smaller parties have won seven seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made its entry by winning the Doda assembly constituency.

Following the alliance’s success, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah announced his son, Omar Abdullah, as the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Farooq Abdullah stated that the people have shown they do not accept the decision made on August 5, and emphasized the need to address issues like unemployment and inflation.

The Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir took place on September 18, September 25, and October 1.
