On October 24, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Omar Abdullah, met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. This meeting marked Abdullah’s first interaction with the Defence Minister since he took office on October 16.

During their discussion, Rajnath Singh conveyed the NDA government’s eagerness to collaborate with Jammu and Kashmir’s administration for the region’s development, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Singh shared this sentiment in a post on X, highlighting the government’s commitment to the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prior to this meeting, Omar Abdullah also engaged with other key figures in the national capital, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Roads, Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on October 16. He recently resigned from the Budgam Assembly constituency, choosing to retain the Ganderbal seat, a stronghold of the National Conference (NC). This decision followed his victory in two Assembly seats during the recent elections. Abdullah previously served as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 to 2015.
