Omar Abdullah, the newly appointed Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, chaired his first cabinet meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar. This meeting took place a day after he took the oath of office. A delegation led by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary met with CM Omar Abdullah at his residence in Gupkar. The meeting included Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Political Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, and PL Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta.

Omar Abdullah emphasized that his government aims to serve the people without causing inconvenience. He instructed the police to avoid traffic stoppages and minimize the use of sirens during his travels. He also urged his cabinet colleagues to adopt a people-friendly approach. Omar Abdullah previously served as Chief Minister from 2009 to 2014 and now leads a National Conference-led government with support from the INDIA alliance and independents.

The NC-Congress alliance won the recent assembly elections, securing a majority with 42 seats for JKNC and six for Congress. The BJP won 29 seats, while the People’s Democratic Party, People’s Conference, CPI-M, AAP, and independents secured the remaining seats.
