Omar Abdullah, Vice-President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, emphasized the need for the region’s statehood restoration. He stated that once a government is formed, it should pass a resolution and engage in talks with the central government in Delhi. Abdullah highlighted the importance of working harmoniously with the Lieutenant Governor for the benefit of the people, aiming for peaceful cooperation until statehood is restored.

He acknowledged a congratulatory call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the National Conference alliance on their victory, expressing gratitude and a desire for a cooperative atmosphere. Abdullah noted that it was premature to discuss government priorities or portfolio allocations, as the party and alliance leaders were yet to be chosen. He assured that the future government would work for all citizens, including those who voted for the BJP and those who abstained from voting, ensuring governance benefits for everyone.
