Omar Abdullah Sworn in as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir

In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of the Union Territory. The ceremony took place at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre, with L-G Manoj Saxena administering the oath.

Mehbooba Mufti’s Remarks

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed hope that the new government will address the challenges faced by the region since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. She emphasized the need to resolve issues like unemployment, drug addiction, and electricity shortages.

J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina congratulated Omar Abdullah and his ministers, hoping they will continue efforts to establish peace and resolve public issues. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also attended the ceremony, highlighting the importance of forming the government and securing rights for the people.

New Government Formation

Alongside Omar Abdullah, NC leader Surinder Kumar Choudhary was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. Other ministers include NC MLAs Javed Ahmed Rana, Javid Ahmad Dar, Sakina Itoo, and independent MLA Satish Sharma. The event was attended by Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other INDIA bloc leaders.
