Historic Event in Srinagar
On a memorable Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, along with Bollywood star Suniel Shetty, inaugurated Kashmir’s first-ever International Marathon at the Polo Stadium in Srinagar. This event is a significant milestone for the region, aiming to boost sports and tourism while highlighting Kashmir’s breathtaking scenery.
Promoting Kashmir as a Global Destination
Suniel Shetty expressed his excitement, stating, “People want to come to Kashmir, and an event like this sends a message to the entire world that people from all over are participating. It’s a big thing… It’s a paradise for the world.”

In recent elections, the NC-Congress alliance emerged victorious in the Union Territory, marking the first polls since the abrogation of Article 370. The JKNC secured 42 seats, Congress won six, and the BJP performed well with 29 seats in the Jammu region. The People’s Democratic Party won three seats, while the People’s Conference, CPI-M, and AAP each won one. Seven seats were claimed by Independents. Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory, with Surinder Kumar Choudhary as his deputy.
