Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, announced a partnership with Congress to contest against the BJP in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections. He stated, “We aim to fight against the BJP like a consolidated front so that the possibility of success increases further.”

The National Conference will contest 51 of the 90 seats, while Congress will contest 32. The two parties will have a friendly contest on five seats and have left one seat each for CPI(M) and Panthers Party. The National Conference has announced 18 candidates, and Congress has announced nine candidates so far.

The BJP has also released its first list of 16 candidates, including a candidate for the Konkernag seat. Polling will be conducted in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with the counting of votes on October 4. Voting will be held for 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, which has 88.06 lakh electors according to the Election Commission.
