On September 27, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who is also the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Regional Chairperson, inaugurated the archive cell of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Library in Aizawl, Mizoram. This new archive cell is a result of the efforts of Mizoram Legislative Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, funded through the office expenses of the State Assembly.

The archive room will store important old documents and records of proceedings from when Mizoram was a District Council and Union Territory since 1972. It is equipped with several amenities to provide easy access to these documents for members.
