In Bhubaneswar, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a meeting to assess the state’s readiness for Cyclone Dana. The meeting included Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced that the Health Department is on high alert, with all Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) on standby and their leave canceled. Measures are in place to handle snake venom issues, and Chief Minister Majhi is closely monitoring the situation.

Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged citizens to stay vigilant and cooperate with authorities, emphasizing the state’s strong disaster management policy. He encouraged elected representatives to support the public during this challenging time.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) DIG Mohsen Shahidi reported that evacuation efforts are underway, with 20 teams in Odisha and 13 in West Bengal. Preparations are also in place in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts Cyclone Dana will intensify into a severe storm, crossing the Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island on the night of October 24 to the morning of October 25, with wind speeds of 100-110 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h.

NDRF teams, along with the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard, are on high alert, ready to provide rescue and relief operations.
