As Cyclone Dana approaches the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal, Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari, announced the setup of over 5000 relief centers. These centers are equipped with essential supplies like drinking water, food, and medicine. The state plans to evacuate around 10 lakh people to ensure their safety.

Telecom and Power Assurance

The telecom department has assured that the network will remain operational, while Tata Energy has committed to providing continuous power supply. Backup power arrangements are also in place.

Chief Minister’s Directives

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has instructed ministers to oversee cyclone management in potentially affected districts. He urged MLAs to stay in their constituencies to coordinate relief efforts.

Impact on Train Services

Cyclone Dana has led to the cancellation of several trains, including Train No. 06087 from Tirunelveli Junction to Shalimar and the Superfast Express from Bhubaneswar to Rameswaram.

East Coast Railway’s Preparedness

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has activated a Disaster Management Cell to ensure passenger safety and quick restoration of train services. Specialized teams are ready to restore tracks and signaling systems, with diesel locomotives on standby for power outages.
