Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a meeting to assess the state’s readiness for Cyclone Dana. He announced that evacuation efforts are underway, aiming to relocate 90% of residents by 11 AM the next day. Already, 3-4 lakh people have been evacuated. The government is taking the storm seriously, with arrangements in place for affected districts like Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri.

Government’s Preparedness

Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Suresh Pujari, confirmed that preparations are complete, with relief centers ready and resources like ration and medicines in place. Around 6,000 relief centers have been prepared. Puri District Magistrate Siddharth Shankar Swain and Superintendent of Police Vineet Agrawal emphasized the readiness of fire brigade teams and the deployment of ODRAF and NDRF teams.

Health and Safety Measures

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling stated that the Health Department is on high alert, with all CDMOs instructed and their leave canceled. Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged people to remain vigilant and cooperate with the administration, highlighting the state’s strong disaster management policy.

NDRF DIG Mohsen Shahidi mentioned that evacuation is a priority, with teams deployed in Odisha and West Bengal. IMD Director Manorama Mohanty provided updates on the cyclone’s path, predicting it will intensify and cross the coast with wind speeds of 100-120 km/h.
