Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling Addresses Diarrhoea Outbreak in Malkangiri

Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced on Saturday that he is closely monitoring a diarrhoea outbreak in the Malkangiri district. The outbreak has affected 67 people in the hilly area of Malkangiri.

“I am taking stock of the situation. It has spread in a hilly area of Malkangiri. A team has been sent by our department. The matter is being investigated, and samples are being taken. Patients are being treated. According to the report, 67 people are infected,” said Mahaling.

The patients are receiving treatment at the Malkangiri District Hospital. The minister also mentioned that there have been media reports of casualties due to the outbreak, but investigations are ongoing to confirm if the deaths are related to diarrhoea or other issues.

Mahaling has been in communication with the Malkangiri district medical officer and has dispatched a dedicated health department team to the Malkangiri District Hospital to monitor the situation.
