Odisha Governor Raghubar Das Receives Memorandum Condemning Kolkata Doctor’s Tragic Incident
A group of women from Odisha submitted a memorandum to Governor Raghubar Das condemning the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical Hospital in Kolkata. Governor Das assured the group that he would forward the memorandum to West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose and demand strict action.
Governor Das expressed that the entire country is outraged by the negligence of the hospital and local administration. He highlighted the importance of protecting ‘Nari Shakti’ and mentioned that similar incidents occur across India, which is a cause for concern.
Earlier, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging for prompt central intervention and highlighting the inadequacy of the response from the Union Minister of Women and Child Development.
