Odisha Governor Raghubar Das Promises Justice After Son Allegedly Assaults Employee
Puri (Odisha) [India], July 14: Days after an alleged assault on a Raj Bhavan employee by Governor Raghubar Das’s son, the governor has promised justice for the victim and his family.
Incident Details
Baikuntha Pradhan, a Raj Bhavan employee, claimed that he was assaulted by Lalit Kumar, the governor’s son, along with six others on the night of July 7. Pradhan and his wife, Sayoj, met with the governor, who assured them that strict action would be taken against those involved.
Governor’s Assurance
Sayoj, Pradhan’s wife, stated, “Everyone is aware of what happened on July 7. The governor called us and we met him. He assured us that justice would be given. He said that we are their family.”
Complaint Filed
A complaint was registered at the Sea Beach Police Station in Puri. Pradhan had also written a letter to the governor detailing the incident and the threats he received from Lalit Kumar. He demanded justice for the assault and humiliation he faced.
In his letter, Pradhan wrote, “I, Baikuntha Pradhan, Asst. Section Officer, Parliamentary Affairs Department, currently working on a deployment basis at the Governor’s Household, beg to state the following unfortunate and life-threatening incident done by Mr. Lalit Kumar, son of the Honourable Governor of Odisha, and others (a total of six persons) on the night of July 7, 2024, at Raj Bhavan, Puri.”
Pradhan further alleged that Lalit Kumar had been threatening him, saying, “Mr. Lalit Kumar kept on saying that if they murdered me, nobody could save me, neither the Comptroller nor anybody else.”
Pradhan concluded his letter by requesting justice and action against the accused.
