Odisha Government Allocates Rs 423 Crore for Cyclone Dana Relief
The Odisha government has allocated Rs 423 crore to help districts affected by Cyclone Dana. Suresh Pujari, the state’s Revenue and Disaster Management minister, announced that the total loss from the cyclone was estimated at Rs 616.19 crore. After reviewing reports from various departments, the government decided on the disbursement amount. The funds are to be distributed to affected districts within seven days.
Minister Pujari emphasized the importance of quick distribution to those impacted by the cyclone and subsequent floods. The state will also compensate individuals whose homes and crops were damaged. Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas and instructed departments to assess damage and provide aid promptly. Minister Pujari and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja accompanied the Chief Minister during the survey.
Cyclone Dana struck the Odisha coast on October 25, with wind speeds of 100-110 kmph, causing damage but no casualties. The storm uprooted trees and disrupted power lines. Various organizations, including the Indian Navy, Air Force, and National Disaster Response Force, assisted in relief efforts and evacuations.
