Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Launches CM-KISAN Yojana During Nuakhai Festival

Introduction

On Sunday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, along with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the ‘CM-KISAN Yojana’ in Sambalpur, Odisha. The launch coincided with the Nuakhai festival, a significant agricultural celebration in the region.

About CM-KISAN Yojana

The CM-KISAN Yojana aims to provide financial assistance of 925 crores to 46 lakh small and marginal farmers who are not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Eligible farmers will receive a total of Rs 4,000 in two phases: Rs 2,000 during Nuakhai and another Rs 2,000 on Akshaya Tritiya.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed his joy over the launch, stating, “The launch of CM Kisan Yojana on the auspicious occasion of Odisha’s agricultural festival, Holy Nuakhai, is a moment of joy for all of us. Around 46 lakh farming families of the state will benefit from this scheme. 925 crores financial assistance has been directly transferred through DBT to strengthen their financial position, which will improve their financial progress.”

Nuakhai Festival Celebrations

Nuakhai is a three-day agrarian festival celebrated with much pomp and gaiety in various districts of western Odisha, including Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, and Boudh. Farmers offer new grain to the deity to welcome the new crop, followed by dance, games, and other festivities.

Additional Activities

Earlier, CM Majhi, along with Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan and state ministers, offered prayers at the ‘Maa Samaleswari’ temple. State Ministers Suresh Pujari, Rabi Narayan Naik, and Sambalpur BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra also participated in the sacred ‘Nabanna’ (new rice) ceremony with CM Majhi.
