Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Surveys Cyclone Dana Aftermath
In the wake of Cyclone Dana, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas on Sunday. He instructed relevant departments to quickly assess the damage and provide necessary assistance to those impacted. Accompanying him were Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Suresh Pujari, and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja reported that 92% of connectivity has been restored, with 22 lakh electricity consumers affected. Efforts continue to restore services, especially in Bhadrak district. Around 8.1 lakh people sought refuge in cyclone shelters, with only 1.1 lakh remaining as conditions improved.
Rescue operations were conducted in Tala Gopabindha village, Bhadrak district, where some people suffered snake bites but received treatment. Waterlogging issues are being addressed, and normalcy is expected soon.
Cyclone Dana struck the Odisha coast on Friday with winds of 100-110 kmph, causing damage but no casualties. CM Majhi thanked the people and officials for their teamwork in achieving zero casualties. The Indian Navy, Air Force, and National Disaster Response Force played key roles in relief efforts.
