Keonjhar (Odisha) [India], September 21: Odisha Chief Minister Charan Majhi visited the stadium in Keonjhar and interacted with the people. He confirmed that the state government is planning to develop sports infrastructure in the state.

Plans for New Stadiums

Speaking to the media, CM Majhi said, “The Odisha government has been planning for the development of the sports infrastructure in the state. I have discussed with the Collector and Sports Minister about the construction of a national-level stadium in Keonjhar.” He also mentioned plans to construct stadiums in every district headquarters and mini stadiums in each panchayat.

National Sports Week Celebrations

Earlier, on August 29, during the National Sports Week celebrations from August 26 to 31, the Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department organized a performance featuring Kickboxing and Pencak silat at the Dhauligiri Peace Pagoda, the site of the historic Kalinga War. Member of Legislative Assembly Babu Singh attended as the Chief Guest, along with officials from the Amateur Kick Boxing Association of Odisha and the Penchak Silat Association of Odisha.

The department also celebrated an athletic event at Kalinga Stadium, where athletes from state-run sports hostels took the Fit India Pledge and participated in track and field events including sprints, long jump, and javelin throw.

The official handle of the Department of Sports and Youth Services wrote on X, “Celebrating National Sports Week at Kalinga Stadium with an athletic event. Athletes from state-run sports hostels took the Fit India Pledge & competed in sprints, long jump, high jump & javelin throw.”
