Odisha Assembly Session and Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra Preparations

The first session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly will begin on July 22, 2024. Governor Raghubar Das will address the session, followed by a motion of thanks. The Deputy Speaker election is scheduled for July 24, and the 2024-25 budget will be presented on July 25.

Preparations are also in full swing for the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra on July 7. President Droupadi Murmu will visit Puri for the chariot pulling event. Puri District Magistrate Siddharth Shankar Swain mentioned that extensive arrangements are being made, including a 225-bed super specialty setup and significant police deployment.

The Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot Festival, is a historic event celebrating the journey of the Holy Trinity to Goddess Gundicha Devi’s Temple and their return after eight days. The festival is celebrated worldwide, from New Zealand to London and South Africa.
