NSUI Protests in Jaipur Over NEET and UGC-NET Issues

On June 21, members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) gathered in Jaipur to protest against irregularities in the NEET and UGC-NET exams. Rajasthan NSUI President Vinod Jakhar spoke to the media, demanding the immediate cancellation and re-examination of the NEET-UG exam, along with strict action against those responsible for the issues.

The protests were triggered by recent irregularities and paper leaks in exams conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Ministry of Education cancelled the UGC-NET exam held on June 18, citing compromised integrity. A new exam will be scheduled, with details to be announced separately.

According to the Ministry of Education, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received information from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit indicating potential compromises in the exam’s integrity. The NEET-UG 2024 exam, held on May 5, faced protests after 67 students achieved perfect scores, leading to allegations of irregularities and paper leaks.

On June 13, the NTA informed the Supreme Court that the scorecards of 1563 candidates who received grace marks in the NEET-UG 2024 exam would be cancelled. These candidates can reappear for the exam on June 23 or forgo the compensatory marks. The NEET-UG exam is crucial for admission to medical and related courses in India.
