NSUI President Varun Choudhary Faces FIR Over NEET-UG 2024 Protest

New Delhi [India] June 28: A case has been registered against NSUI National President Varun Choudhary after members of the Congress students’ wing, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), held a protest at the National Testing Agency (NTA) office over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam.

The Delhi Police filed the FIR on June 27 under Section 154 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC). The NSUI posted on its official X handle, “Government’s FIR against NSUI National President Varun Choudhary for protesting NTA’s failures reveals their fear of accountability.”

NSUI demands justice for NEET students and vows to escalate their protests until the NTA is banned. Varun Choudhary stated in a video on his official X handle, “We will not be scared no matter how many FIRs you register. As long as the NEET students don’t get justice, we will not be scared.”

Earlier, a case was registered against NSUI workers under several sections of the IPC. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also registered a criminal case over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam, which was held on May 5, 2024, with over 23 lakh candidates appearing.

The Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee to recommend reforms in the examination process and improvements in data security protocols.
