NSA Ajit Doval Leads Indian Delegation at BIMSTEC Meeting in Myanmar
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval led the Indian delegation at the 4th Annual Meeting of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Security Chiefs in Naypyitaw, Myanmar.
Doval met with Myanmar’s National Security Advisor Admiral Moe Aung, and the BIMSTEC Security Chiefs called on Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
On Thursday, India assumed the role of lead country for security sector collaboration within BIMSTEC, marking a significant step towards enhancing regional security cooperation. This was highlighted during the Senior Officials’ Meeting in Naypyitaw, which prepared for the 4th Meeting of BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs.
The meeting aimed to strategize and coordinate initiatives to address common security challenges faced by member states.
Earlier this month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hosted foreign ministers from BIMSTEC member countries in the national capital to strengthen cooperation among Bay of Bengal countries.
BIMSTEC is a regional organization that connects countries around the Bay of Bengal to promote economic growth, trade, and cooperation in areas like transportation, energy, and counter-terrorism.
