In Amritsar, Punjab, an NRI named Sukhchain Singh was allegedly shot by two youths who barged into his house in the Daburji area. The incident happened around 7 am while Sukhchain was getting ready to go to the gym.

Details of the Incident

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner Harpal Singh, the two youths entered the house on the pretext of enquiring about the registration papers of Sukhchain’s luxury car. They fired three shots, two of which hit Sukhchain, but the weapon got stuck, and the accused fled the scene.

Family’s Account

Sukhchain’s wife, Amandeep Kaur, mentioned that there were five people in the house, including two children and an elderly mother. The children pleaded with the attackers to leave their father, but the attackers intended to kill him. When the weapon got stuck, they fled.

Police and Medical Updates

Amritsar Commissioner of Police Ranjit Singh Dhillon stated that Sukhchain Singh, who lives in America and arrived in Punjab a month ago, was taken to the hospital immediately and is now out of danger. The family has lodged an FIR against five family members of Sukhchain’s ex-wife, suspecting their involvement in the incident.

Doctor Krishnan Srinivasan, who treated Sukhchain, said that he was bleeding severely but is now stable, with injuries on his face and hand.
