Northeast Frontier Railway Catches Illegal Migrants in Assam

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has been actively working to detect and apprehend illegal migrants. In June 2024, they caught 47 illegal migrants and 5 Indian agents during checks at various stations.

Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway, stated that in July 2024, up until the 23rd, the RPF detained 41 more illegal migrants. On July 2, during a routine check at Agartala Railway Station, the RPF team found 11 individuals of doubtful nationality who later admitted to entering India illegally from Bangladesh. On July 23, four more Bangladeshi nationals were detained at Agartala station.

These migrants were planning to travel to Kolkata by train. All detained individuals were handed over to the Government Railway Police for further legal action. Similar detentions occurred at Badarpur and New Jalpaiguri stations during regular checks.

The RPF staff remain vigilant, closely monitoring stations and trains to detect illegal migrants, Rohingyas, and other suspected persons.
