North Korean Soldiers in Russia: White House Raises Concerns

In October, the White House reported that at least 3,000 North Korean soldiers arrived in eastern Russia for training, raising concerns they might join the conflict against Ukraine. John Kirby, the White House National Security Communications Advisor, shared this information during a press briefing. He mentioned that these soldiers traveled from North Korea to Vladivostok, Russia, and are currently training at various military sites.

Kirby emphasized the potential involvement of North Korean soldiers in combat alongside Russian forces, which would indicate Russia’s increasing desperation in its war against Ukraine. He also highlighted that such cooperation violates UN Security Council resolutions.

The US has briefed Ukraine and is closely monitoring the situation. Additionally, the US is providing significant military support to Ukraine, including air defense systems and armored vehicles. President Biden is committed to supporting Ukraine, with plans to impose sanctions on those aiding Russia’s war efforts.

Kirby noted that the US, along with G7 partners, is providing financial support to Ukraine, demonstrating a unified stance against Russia’s aggression.
